Foxfire
Foxfire by Joyce Carol Oates
I've wanted to read this book ever since I saw the movie Foxfire with Angelina Jolie in it. Yet once again, watching the movie before reading the book ruined it for me. The movie managed to twist many important details around, but kept the core of the girl gang intact. The reader can still connect to "Legs", but I found myself disliking "Maddy" in the book. Mostly because she was annoying and quit the girl gang before the kidnapping. However, the book went into great detail of the juvenile detention hall that "Legs" was sent to, which I greatly enjoyed. I also liked how more of "Foxfire's" scandals are written about and how "Legs" is even more independent, brutal, and strong than she is in the movie. Angelina Jolie was the perfect actress for the part, minus the blonde hair and bad eye of course. However, I didn't like how the book was literally written. I felt like I was trying to keep up with the narrator's internal thoughts (which was how it was written) and I didn't enjoy that. I felt like I was racing along and ended up skimming many paragraphs. Overall, it was a good book. I'd give it:
3 out of 5

COMMENTS
Books suck. Read more picture books like Dr. Suess or Wheres Waldo or Playboy! You see? Nice picture books!!!!
3:49 AMHey, that was mean!! I'd never stoop to that level of brain mushiness. Hahahaha.......*insert evil laugh here*
9:56 AMThose were funny comments! I remember that movie, but I haven't read the book. I've read some the Foxfire series, but those are way different. They are about old traditions of mountain people.
11:27 AMYou should do a review of "Fox in Sox" next! :)
What is Fox in Sox? Yeah, the book was decent, but nothing I'd recommend you to run out and buy.
