An Article Review
Read this piece of shit
Usually I leave it to Ruppe to provide us with commentary on articles from the Ironwood Daily Globe. However, this article pissed me off so bad I couldn't help myself.
"I shudder when I think this generation will be running our country, our world, very soon and will have little comprehension of our history to learn from and help them decide what mistakes they could or should avoid."--Joe VanDeLaarschot, managing editor of the Daily Globe
This asshole is the fucking EDITOR of the paper and he writes such stereotypical trash about the youth of our community? I don't know what the fuck this man is on, but it's most likely "asshat juice". He is so completely blind and biased; I find it disgusting and repulsive that he even wrote such a thing and then had the audacity to print it in the newspaper. Perhaps he doesn't realize this, but the generation's parents who he is speaking of are the very readers and foundations of his newspaper. To blatantly attack the young people of the society is the same as going to your next door neighbor and yelling "Hey! You have a retarded son who knows nothing and I am frightened for my life when I think of his future!"
VanDeLaarschot places the majority of the blame on the teachers and educators of generation. Now, wouldn't that be like placing the blame on himself? Apparently he believes that he and his generation know more than our generation about the history of our country. So why doesn't he take it upon himself to teach us this information instead of attacking the very teachers who try their hardest to provide us with a quality education? He takes sides with David McCullough, who said during his television appearance he felt this decline in our younger generation's knowledge of history is in part caused by the decline in our system of education. Attacking our teachers is absolutely atrocious because I know my teachers tried their hardest in teaching me history, among other things. Oh yeah, APPARENTLY people who are teachers and trying to gain an education don't have PASSION for what they do. This guy is nuts. What do I have to do, dance and sing while going to class every day to prove my passion?
I find this absolutely awful that he and other people of his older generation are so frightened of the very people who are in Iraq fighting for freedom or the other young people who are helping build new companies and new technology. I hate that he is so sickeningly stereotypical of my generation. Just because he had one young idiot for a news reporter does not mean that the rest of us are equally idiotic. That's like saying all dogs are stupid just because one of them likes to eat it's own shit on a daily basis.
The next time this numnut decides to write something so biased and foolish, he should consider how dumb he actually sounds. When I read this, all I could picture was an old fat man who finds asinine things to bitch about to the cashier while purchasing a package of extra large Depends at the local store. Now, how's that for stereotypical, Joe??

Great message Julie. Its insane that some older individual can just attack the youth of the country when he knows nothing about their own lives. If he said "I was young, I know what they are going through", hes full of himself. He has no idea of whats going on. Especially coming from someone who has probably never lived in a bigger city than Ironwood.
1:38 PMPlus, if we are so umimportant to the country, why does every Presidential candidate always put their highest political efforts on the 18-25 demographic of the country?
I do agree with one thing in the article. 9/11 was NOT the worst thing that happened to this country. That happened on December 7th, 1941. That was the worst. I also noticed how they asked a few young people some questions on history and people. Well, I can guarentee you could ask some older people this stuff and they would not know either.
The thing that really boils me is the attack on teachers and how they apparently "have no special knowledge of one certain area." What? Teachers are underpaid and have the most pressure on them, case and point, this article obviously places this pressure. Why dont some of these people look at the parenting for once. Most parents are not even involved with their what their kids do in a given day thus it reduces any blame on them. Teachers are already doing their jobs the best they can. Maybe parents should do theirs a little better.
Good reply JJ! I agree with you, I hate how this guy attacks the teachers the way he does. It's just awful and irritates me to no end. There will always be people out there who don't know anything and are dumb as a box of rocks--which is why they AREN'T teachers, leaders, or other major figures. Ack! I was SO MAD when I read that article. Thanks for the input.
