House is Mine!!

I signed the final bid for my house yesterday. It is MINE!! (note: taking into consideration that all contingencies are met and the other people go through with their end of the deal...) But it's MINE! All MINE! I am the king of my own world!

Dusty and I went to Menards yesterday to look at all the housey things that I can buy to make it look prettier. All in all, nothing technically NEEDS to be done to the house. It's in great shape. Nothing is wrong and everything works. I know that I have to personalize it and make it mine, though.

I want to change the kitchen counters from a strange color of orangey-red to a grey block type of surface. Alot of room painting will be done, starting with the main floor bedroom which is being converted into my own office/library. I'd like to change the aluminum siding because well...in Dusty's words it looks like piss-n-shit. Although it is in good condition, I don't think I could stay in a house of that color for too long. I've been contemplating replacing it next spring or summer. Dusty is in charge of making the entire basement into a great rec room.

We want to get a puppy and there is a nice sized fenced in yard already in the back. There is a paved driveway and a two car garage. It's very nice. Once again, if you know me in real life, I will tell you more details in person. I don't need stalkers finding me again. HA!

Closing should be on or around May 27th. Until then I need to get house insurance. I've never gotten house insurance before so this is all new to me. YAY ME! A tiny thought keeps tickling my brain, am I sure this is for real?

Excuse me, but that sounds suspiciously like a real life Julie. You can´t have a real life because that makes me feel like I should have a real life. And I don´t even come close. But congratulations to you anyway, you deserve it!! =)

Hi Julie - Congratulations again on the new house! I'm be rooting for you that everything works out smoothly! I know how exciting it can be to plan how you want things to be decorated - it's SO MUCH fun! House insurance is pretty easy, too. The place that did ours just combined it with our auto insurace, so it's all in one nice monthly bill :) Take care!

Thanks Melissa! I hope that I can combine the house insurance with my auto insurance, I'm pretty sure I can do that at the place I'm going to. I just hope it's not too expensive!
