WHO? ME???
I am going to embark upon the most thrilling journey of my life and I absolutely can't wait. In fact, I wish I could start right the fuck now but alas, I do have to wait a month or two yet. I bet you kids are itching in your drawers wondering what I have up my sleeve.
Well, it all began in May of 2003 when Dusty and I took a trip out to Boston to visit his sister and neice. I fell in love with Boston. I love everything about it. I rode on a subway by myself for the first time, wandered the streets of Cambridge, and spent 4 hours in a bookstore, among many things. I have been thinking of moving out there after graduation ever since.
I always thought of it as some sort of dream that I would always think about but never actually step forward to achieve. I've changed my mind. I'm going to do what I want to do and not regret decisions that I perhaps wouldn't have made.
I talked to Dusty's sister about this a little while ago. She is an Assistant Dean at Harvard and I told her how I always wanted to work in a financial aid office in a college. I also told her I dreamed of moving out to Boston. She asked me "Well, Harvard is ALWAYS looking for people for their finance departments, why don't you apply for a job there?"
HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!
Yes, me, little Julie from hickville, is going to apply for a job at Harvard University. I just checked out all the openings and there are TONS that I am eligble for. Alas, it is not wise to start applying now when I can't even start work until May so I shall wait until February or so.
They have excellent benefits programs, good salaries, and what else??? I could continue my education there! I would go for my Master's and Doctor's in English.
I simply can't believe that I'm going to do this. I won't regret a single minute of it. In fact, I'm almost pissing my own pants because I'm so fricking excited.
So take that you stupid idiots from back home who said I'd never amount to anything in life. You bastards. In fact, I thank you for giving me the drive to accomplish my dreams.
