Metal Cans
Sometimes life just isn't fair. Things don't go right. Yet it keeps on going, ticking away at the few minutes of life in which you claim yours.

As the blocks fall in place
how do we know
what is in store?
the choice lies in the rows
of canned goods
in aisle 7
what will it be?
canned corn
string beans
cranberry sauce
the years ahead
lie behind the paper labels
stuck on with generic glue
metal cans aligned by height
by price
by brands
make your choice
and please move on
for you will never know
what is inside those cans
until you take them home
and eat them
This is a poem I wrote awhile back when I was contemplating the same thing. Sorry for the brief seriousness in here guys, I'm feeling non-silly today.

Hi Jules ~ I posted a lovely note for you elsewhere. :) I just wanted to say howdy! It looks like you had a marvelous time at the Hiawatha fest. I've never been to it, but my pastor goes (haha) and speaks highly of it.
