Squeaks
Tonight Dusty and I made the most scrumptious meal for dinner. We made breaded chicken breasts, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, and corn. Well, more like Dusty cooked and I helped by getting out the plates and silverware.
I saw a stray cat in our side yard tonight while Dusty and I were taking our walk. It was a calico and I tried to call her to me. I could tell that she wasn't a complete stray because her hair wasn't mangy yet, nor did she run the minute she saw us.
So I took a can of Frisky's cat food and cut it in half. I gave Frisky his part (so that he wouldn't get TOO jealous) and set the rest of the can outside.
Within minutes the little calico kitty was at my doorstep eating. I went outside and she sat there and ate the entire time. She almost came to me when I got really close, but she's still slightly leery of me. I took some pictures, which I will post in a minute.
It makes me mad because I can tell this was someone's cat. She's a cat that used to have a home in someone's house. She had a food dish, a little corner where she used to sleep, and probably some little kitty toys. It breaks my heart how mean and cold-hearted people can be. It was probably some dumb college kid who didn't want her when he/she decided to leave Marquette.
So every night around this time I'm going to put a little food outside and call her. I'm going to make sure the skunks don't get her food, too. I'm going to make friends with this little kitty.
I shall call her Squeaks. She has a very squeaky meow.
